Under Chairs, Behind Tables is a series of illustrations on grief and its affects on perception and understanding of familiar spaces, particularly the home and its contents. Mangled furniture is used to convey the sense of rewiring the brain as it adjusts to navigating surroundings after loss.
The series grew out of research in cognitive science and philosophy, as well as personal experience. Excerpts of key text are used in the accompanying newsprint as a contextual guide for the work, as well as providing additional imagery.
